A laboratory-based, automated petrography analyzer widely used both in geoscience institutes and mining.

QEMSCAN® is a fully automated, non-destructive, micro-analysis system that provides rapid, statistically reliable and repeatable, mineralogical, petrographic and metallurgical data, from virtually any inorganic, and some organic, materials. It is used in the mining industry for mineral exploration, ore characterization, and mineral process optimization applications. The oil and gas industry utilizes QEMSCAN to reduce risk and improve extraction, based on knowledge derived from the micro-analysis of drill cuttings and cores. The coal industry is applying automated analysis of coal, pulverized fuel and coal combustion products, to better understand coal combustion and waste utilization.

Using fully-inegrated equipment and software, QEMSCAN defines most of rock- and ore- forming minerals on the basis of backscattered and secondary electrons mix with electrically-inducated secondary X-Ray radiation. It is possible to explore many different types of samples, such as impregnated with resin polished thin sections, polished thick sections, polished pieces of samples, well core and even particles on SEM membrane ore filtering paper. You can determine a wide range of petrographical characteristics, such as modal ratio of minerals, granulometric construction, phase inclusions, ore type, litotype, porosity, liberated particles occurense, particles fre area, particles density- and this is not the wull list. Fiels Emission cathode of QEMSCAN 650F superiors the wolfram one in such applications as determining and investigating micrometer sized particles due to it`s greater resolution and a greater detalisation of sub-micrometer sized particles of rocks and it`s structure features like porosity and cracks (using secondary electrons).
